VXG works with any standard ONVIF camera

VXG works with any IP camera that supports: ONVIF Profile S and H.264 video. ONVIF camera brands tested with VXG include AXIS, Hanwha, Hikvision, Dahua, Vivotek, Bosch, Panasonic, Sony, Uniview, Mobotix, Milesight, Longse and Truen.

ONVIF cameras can be connected directly using IP address and port (port forwarding), via VPN, using a Gateway/NVR to bridge the connection, and using ONVIF Uplink. ONVIF Uplink can be part of a camera firmware, an app/plug-in that can be installed on a camera, or software running on an on-prem device such as a router.

ONVIF camera is an IP camera that supports ONVIF protocol. ONVIF stands for Open Network Video Interface Forum. Its aim is to provide a standard for the interface between different IP-based physical security devices. There is a different level of ONVIF support and it depends on the vendor and even on the camera model. ONVIF profile S is the most common for IP cameras.

This is usually declared by the camera vendor in the camera datasheet. Another way of checking if the camera is ONVIF compliant is to use a tool called ONVIF Device Manager for verifying the camera compatibility.

Almost all IP cameras are ONVIF compatible today. The exceptions are closed systems like Verkada, Rhombus, Ring, Arlo, Yi, and others.
