Frequently Asked Questions

VXG is built on top of a fully scalable, distributed microservices infrastructure which enables the system to capture, stream and transcode video from tens of thousands of cameras at a time without experiencing performance drops. Monitoring centers will be able to watch dense matrices of live views across numerous sub accounts, without having to worry as the backend auto scales up to meet a sudden spike of video.
No, VXG is entirely hardware-independent. Since monitoring centers need to be able to access an enormous range of old and new equipment,VXG is designed to be compatible with ANY ONVIF or RTSP enabled camera (more than 20,000 models from Axis, Hanwha, Hikvision, Dahua, Uniview, etc.) and if the customer is using older standalone DVRs or NVRs, the streams can be accessed securely and passed to the center through the VXG Cloud Gateway.
VXG serves as an intelligent integration and event-hub. The system directly receives real-time event-based triggers from edge devices (such as camera motion, line crossing, or external edge I/O devices) or from edge analytics deployed in the cloud. As soon as an event/alarm occurs:
  • The corresponding event metadata is instantly recorded.
  • Short video clips and a snapshot of the video for that specific event timestamp are immediately uploaded to the cloud.
  • Operators in the security center can immediately assess the visual proof.
Yes. For professional monitoring operations, visual verification is only half the battle. VXG supports backward audio streaming, enabling operators to transmit real-time speech through the camera’s microphone or trigger pre-recorded audio intervention files directly from the control dashboard. This allows dispatchers to actively deter intruders on-site before executing emergency response protocols.
Real-time response requires ultra-low latency. VXG optimizes its streaming pipeline using modern, web-native protocols like WebRTC for live views, which drops latency down to sub-second levels (typically less than 500ms under stable network conditions). This allows operators to perform precision PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) controls smoothly and react instantly to active security breaches as they happen.
Opening inbound firewall ports (Port Forwarding) on every client site exposes a huge security vulnerability to malware. VXG has solved it with Uplink technologies:
  1. Camera Uplink (Firmware Plug-in): Our simple plugin installs into the major brands and camera firmware. It creates a single secure outbound WebSocket (WSS) tunnel directly from the camera to the cloud.
  2. Uplink Gateway (Docker image): Our Docker image is deployed on a client-site router (e.g., OpenWRT, MikroTik) or small edge device and creates one secure outbound tunnel for all of their ONVIF compliant cameras.

Both options leave the client’s local network entirely inaccessible from outside attacks and don’t require any static public IPs or complex VPN set-up.

Sure. VXG works completely detached from any client-side 3rd party local VMS that they might have. SinceVXG is directly connecting to the client’s cameras (via Uplink plugin, Cloud Gateway or a second ONVIF stream),VXG can be installed in the background, safely stream/record your cameras and deliver alarms to your remote monitoring stations, while not impacting their normal infrastructure operations.
