Axis Camera Login: Default IP, Username, Password, Port
Axis Communications cameras are widely used in professional surveillance systems because of their strong security model and flexible network configuration. Unlike many consumer IP cameras, Axis devices do not rely on simple preset credentials. Instead, they are designed to be configured securely during the first access. Knowing how Axis cameras handle default IP addressing, usernames, passwords, and ports is essential for first time setup, troubleshooting, or regaining access after a reset.
Default IP Address
Axis cameras are set to obtain an IP address automatically using DHCP by default. This means the router assigns an address as soon as the camera is connected to the network. If no DHCP server is available, many Axis models fall back to the default address 192.168.0.90. You can identify the active IP address by checking your router’s connected devices list or by using Axis network discovery tools.
Default Username
The default username for Axis cameras is root. This account has full administrative privileges and is required during the initial login. The root user is created automatically and cannot be removed, ensuring that there is always a primary administrator account available.
Default Password
Axis cameras do not have a factory preset password. During the first login, the user is required to create a password for the root account. This security focused approach prevents unauthorized access through commonly known default credentials. If the password is forgotten later, a factory reset is required to regain access.
Default Port
By default, Axis cameras use port 80 for HTTP access and port 443 for HTTPS access. Many newer models automatically redirect users to HTTPS to improve security. Streaming and service ports may also be active depending on configuration, but the web interface is typically accessed through port 80 or 443 unless changed manually.
