Storm IP cameras are designed for reliable video surveillance in homes, businesses, and industrial sites. They come preconfigured with default network settings to make the initial setup process quick and straightforward. However, understanding these defaults is important not only for connecting the camera for the first time but also for ensuring it remains secure once deployed. Knowing the default IP address, username, password, and port will help you set up, troubleshoot, and customize your device effectively.

Default IP Address

By default, many Storm cameras are set to obtain an IP address automatically via DHCP. This means that the camera will be assigned an address by your network router when connected. In some cases, a factory static IP is also available for initial configuration, which may be something like 192.168.1.100 or 192.0.0.64. If DHCP is enabled, the easiest way to locate the camera’s address is by checking your router’s device list or using an IP scanning tool.

Default Username

The default username for most Storm IP cameras is typically admin. This is a standard across many surveillance brands and is intended for first-time access. Depending on the model, there may also be additional user roles available, such as “operator” or “viewer”, but “admin” is the account with full privileges during initial setup.

Default Password

Storm cameras often ship with a simple password such as admin, 1234, or no password at all. On some newer models, the password field is left blank during factory reset, and you will be prompted to set a secure one upon the first login. Since weak or blank passwords are a major security risk, it is strongly recommended to change this immediately after connecting to the camera.

Default Port

The default communication port for most Storm IP cameras is port 80 for HTTP access. This allows you to connect to the camera through a standard web browser without entering a special port number. Many models also support RTSP streaming on port 554 for integration with video management software. For added security, these ports can be changed in the network settings after the initial setup.

You can log into your router and check the list of connected devices. Alternatively, network scanning software can detect the camera’s address automatically.
If the default username and password fail, the camera may have been previously configured. Try performing a factory reset to restore the original settings.
While port 80 is convenient for quick access, it is not encrypted. For better security, switch to HTTPS on a different port once the camera is set up.
Immediately change the default password to a strong one, update the firmware, disable unused services, and restrict access through firewall settings if possible.
