Capture Advance Camera: Default IP, Username, Password, Port

Capture Advance cameras are widely used in professional and residential security systems thanks to their reliability and compatibility with standard network video recorders. Like most IP-based surveillance devices, they come with factory default network and login settings that help with the initial setup. Knowing these default details is important when installing a new device, troubleshooting connectivity issues, or resetting a camera to its original state.

Default IP Address

Most Capture Advance cameras ship with a default IP address that allows installers to connect directly to the camera for the first time. This IP is typically within the private address range, such as 192.168.1.168. To access the camera, the computer used for setup should be on the same subnet. Once connected, users can change the IP address to match their local network configuration.

Default Username

The factory-set username for Capture Advance cameras is usually admin. This account provides full access to all settings and features of the camera, including video streams, configuration menus, and security options. For long-term use, it is strongly recommended to create additional user accounts with different permission levels and disable the default admin if possible.

Default Password

In many cases, the default password is also set to admin. However, newer models may come with a blank password that must be defined during the first login. For security reasons, it is critical to replace the default password immediately after installation. Weak or unchanged credentials make the system vulnerable to unauthorized access.

Default Port

Capture Advance cameras typically use port 80 for HTTP access. This allows direct login through a web browser using the camera’s IP address. In some models, an RTSP port such as 554 is also available for video streaming. If the camera will be accessed remotely through the internet, port forwarding may be required on the network router, but this should be done carefully to avoid security risks.

FAQs

Most models include a small reset button on the body of the camera. Holding it for about 10–15 seconds while powered on will reset the IP address, username, and password to their defaults.
If the camera does not respond to the default IP, it may have already been assigned a new address by a DHCP server. Using a network scanning tool can help locate its active IP.
Yes, the HTTP port can be changed from 80 to another number to reduce the risk of automated attacks or to avoid conflicts with other devices. This is done through the network settings menu.
If the administrator password is forgotten, the only solution is usually a hard reset of the device, which restores the default login credentials. Afterward, a new secure password can be set.
