Wisenet (Hanwha) Camera: Default IP, Username, Password, Port

Wisenet cameras are widely used in professional and enterprise video surveillance systems. They are known for solid hardware, advanced analytics, and secure firmware. To configure a camera, view live video, or integrate it with an NVR or VMS, you need to access its web interface or management software. This requires knowing the default network settings and credentials. This guide explains the typical default IP address, username, password, and port used by Wisenet/Hanwha cameras, along with practical tips that help during initial setup or troubleshooting.

Most Wisenet models are produced by Hanwha Vision. Their devices follow consistent login conventions, but newer firmware versions emphasize security and may require activation or password creation at first login. Understanding both legacy and modern behavior helps avoid confusion during deployment.

Default IP

Traditional Wisenet IP cameras ship with a factory default IP address of 192.168.1.100. This allows installers to connect directly from a laptop or local network during initial configuration. If the camera and computer are on the same subnet, entering the address into a browser opens the login page.

Key points about Wisenet default IP behavior:

  • Default static IP is typically 192.168.1.100.
  • Subnet mask is usually 255.255.255.0.
  • Gateway is often blank until configured.
  • Many newer models switch to DHCP if a DHCP server is detected.

If the camera does not respond at the default IP, it may have obtained an address from a router. In that case, discovery tools such as Wisenet Device Manager or ONVIF discovery can locate it on the network.

Default Username

For older Wisenet cameras, the factory default username is admin. This administrator account has full privileges including network configuration, firmware updates, and video settings. Installers typically log in with admin during setup and then create additional users with limited permissions.

Newer firmware versions still use admin as the default username but require a password to be created at first login. This prevents unauthorized access from default credentials. If you see a password creation screen instead of a login prompt, the device is in initial activation mode.

Default Password

Legacy Wisenet devices often shipped with a blank password for the admin account. In practice this means:

  • Username: admin
  • Password: (leave empty)

However, modern security policies have removed blank passwords. Current models require you to set a strong password the first time you connect. The password must usually meet complexity rules such as minimum length and mixed character types.

If you do not know the password because it was changed previously, the only recovery method is a hardware factory reset. After reset, the camera returns to activation state or default credentials depending on firmware generation.

Default Port

Wisenet cameras use standard network ports for web access and video streaming. The default HTTP web interface port is 80. This allows login via a browser using the IP address alone, for example http://192.168.1.100.

Other commonly used ports include:

  • HTTPS: 443
  • RTSP video stream: 554
  • ONVIF service: 8899 or 80 depending on model

Ports can be changed in the network settings for security or routing requirements. If the HTTP port is modified, the login address must include it, for example http://192.168.1.100:8080.

FAQs

Most Wisenet IP cameras use 192.168.1.100 as the factory default address. Newer models may switch to DHCP automatically if a router is present.
Older devices use username admin with a blank password. Modern firmware requires you to create a password during first login while keeping admin as the username.
Press and hold the reset button on the camera for about 5 to 10 seconds while powered. After reboot, network settings and credentials return to default or activation state.
The camera may have received a DHCP address from your router or been reconfigured previously. Use a device discovery tool or check your router client list to find its current IP.
The default HTTP port is 80 and HTTPS is 443. If the port has been changed, include it in the address after the IP.
Yes. Most Wisenet cameras support RTSP on port 554 for integration with NVRs and third party video software.
No. Default or blank passwords create security risks. Always set a strong unique password and disable unused services after installation.
